The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and introducing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang

The preview shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
